RELIGION AND LIFE

The Revolution needs to take place

Recently, I was in a conversation with a well-to-do man who has his own business and a few properties. He spoke with me out of a deep concern about the seeming ineffectiveness of the church as an institution. He was also at a loss for an explanation of why the black community is suffering as much as it is. He asked, "Why are we unable to work together to build each other up?" Then he asked me the most striking question – "How can it be changed – what can be done?" My straight forward answer to him was: "We have to have a revolution." He laughed out loud as if in disbelief – especially since he knew he was speaking with a Pastor. So I went on to explain what my statement meant. I will now share with you, the reader, what my statement means and why it is important.

IN THE BEGINNING

Part 2

At the conclusion of the previous part I posed the question as to why God did not leave the universe in darkness and endow future beings with the capacity to operate in it? Why light? Let us consider 2 verses: "And darkness was upon the face of the deep" (Genesis 1:2) "And God said, Let there be light and there was light." (Genesis 1:3) God knew that he was going to create man and the animal kingdom, and in his infinite wisdom he decided to create light. "God divided the light from the darkness. And the light he called day, and the darkness night." He did not destroy the darkness. He merely divided it from the light. The point here is that both energies are necessary for our survival. Like positive and negative, they co-exist. The day is a time for work, the night a time for rest.

FOUR CATEGORIES OF PEOPLE (Souls)

By BRENDA AARON

In my last article I said that people everywhere are in-trinsically the same. Since then, I have found four categories in which people may be placed. By examining our minds accurately and honestly, the category into which we fall will become apparent. Regardless of their backgrounds these persons have al-lowed negative experiences of the past to greatly impact their lives. Though their experiences might be a mixture of the good, not-so-good, or harsh, persons within this group tend to focus upon and highlight those experiences that brought them some discomfort. Even when the beneficial experiences far outweigh the hurtful ones, these souls bemoan the latter.
