RELIGION AND LIFE

If Motherhood is the most important Job …

This year Mother’s Day was celebrated in the usual fashion with all the pomp and circumstances. Flower shop owners were happy, stores were buzzing and even in the church worship-style and format were altered just to highlight the role of mothers. Even before Father’s Day arrives we can be sure that Fathers will not be accorded nearly as much of these accommodations and celebrations. The reason for this seems to be the prevailing notion that mothers are more important than fathers. I have given sound reasons in the past to show why this notion is not correct either scientifically or by any other field of study or by any other measuring agent. Having said that let us examine the way in which the role of mothering can be the most important one.

QUE SERA SERA (CONCLUSION)

In the previous part. I concluded with a discussion of seeming contradictions in Jesus’ utterances concerning his mission. I shall continue that discussion and also describe notions about predestination in relation to world events and human actions.

JOHN 3:16

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only son that everyone who follows him will not perish, but have eternal life." Most commentators, including Martin Luther, skip over the crucial term "the world" as if it is self-explanatory. It is not. In the passages quoted in the First Part, Jesus maintained that his Father sent him to preach salvation to the lost sheep of the House of Israel. Therefore, one must conclude that his father gave him to redeem those to whom he was sent.

JUST A MOMENT

by Brenda Aaron

"Just a Moment" is a well-known phrase frequently used to capture the imagination, to call one’s attention to focus on a topic of interest as it relates to the past, present or future. Whenever someone beckons to us suddenly: "Just A Moment," there is always a flurry of questions - Why? What? Who? - that comes to mind even before a statement is made or a response given. How many thoughts pervade the mind in any given moment is often a mystery and is a question deserving of our serious reflection and analysis.
